November 23, 2022 is when Jenna Ortega broke the internet with her new series on Netflix called “Wednesday.” Receiving over 341.23 million hours viewed in the first week passing “Stranger Things” previous record.
The comedy horror television series is based on the character Wednesday Addams and her family, created by Charles Addams. Four of the eight episodes are directed by Tim Burton, who also serves as an executive producer.
Wednesday Addams is expelled from her school after dumping live piranhas into the school’s pool during the water polo practice in an attempt to bring justice to her brother after he had been bullied. Sadly this could not slide at her school, so she got sent away to Nevermore Academy. A private school for monstrous outcasts in the town of Jericho, Vermont. Like many other young teens fitting into a new school was hard, and it took time to build friendships and try to figure out who she could trust. I think for teens all over; this is a relatable show that brings comfort in figuring out who you are and navigating middle/high school.
Many rumors have been circled around if there will be another season and if “Wednesday” Is going to be staying on Netflix; well, I have some good news. Netflix has officially released information that there will be a season 2. The release date still goes unknown, but I’m sure we will all be counting down the days once it becomes known.
In a new interview with Elle, Jenna Ortega reveals in the new season coming up that she will be an executive producer for the show. We all hoped something like this would happen after she choreographed her whole dance scene for the song “Goo Goo Muck.”
Later on, in the interview with Elle, the one and only Tim Burton explained, “You have to kind of be Wednesday, and that’s what Jenna is,” he said, “Whether she likes it or not, she’s got that in her soul.” Honnering why Jenna is such a good actor for this role. With her dry humor and dead-on acting skills, there is no doubt why the show is such a success.
