2 Dominican Latin Trap artists I feel more people should know about (Op-Ed)

Don’t get me wrong, I love Latin-Trap artists like El Alfa and Arcangel, and they deserve their recognition and success. However, there are many other artists that I feel should get the same amount of attention: Tali Goya and Chucky73. Let me tell you why.

I found out about these two artists very recently. I found out about Tali Goya in my freshman year of college. I was scrolling on YouTube looking for something to listen to and I stumbled across one of his songs called “Eres Mia.” I absolutely loved his flow, instrumentals, and witty lyrics. I proceeded to go on Spotify and binge-listen to his music from that moment forward I fell in love. Goya is also extremely talented his rapping and flow are extremely impressive.

He is very witty, catchy, and aggressive in his lyricism. He doesn’t just talk about violence or sex like other rappers, he also talks about his real-life experiences. You can stream Goya on Spotify, YouTube, Soundcloud, and all other major streaming platforms.

I found out about Chucky73 last year while my brother was dropping me off at work. My brother is a music lover just like me, so I always discover the best jams in his car. He played one of Chucky73’s songs and I found it very catchy and funny. So, I Shazamed the song and I found out this heavy hitter was titled “Terrorita.” Chucky73 is very talented lyrically like Tali Goya; he is also very witty and funny. If you are a Spanish speaker wanting to party, laugh, and have a good time, then Chucky73 is for you!

He talks about many of the same themes Tali talks about, but you are more likely to hear him on a more upbeat, fun, clubby, and loose track. Interestingly, Chucky73 happens to be from the same city in the Dominican Republic that my parents are from: La Vega. I also thought this was very cool. You can listen to Chucky73 on YouTube, Spotify, Soundcloud, and all other major streaming platforms.
