For the football world, last night was an event that veered towards history changing – the 2025 NFL Draft. Franchises got their target players, whether 1st or 2nd round – it led to potential changes to their respective teams. For prospect, or in better words, a person finally achieving the dream of reaching the pros: hearing their name called on draft night. There have been ups and downs pertaining to the environment, finances, academics, injuries, and tragedies. Yet, at the end of the day, all of these college aged players are now at a level where they can attain generational wealth. So, let’s see the best moments from the 2025 NFL Draft.
Cam Ward: Tennessee Titans
A name very familiar to NYCTM readers, Cam Ward was selected No. 1 overall by the Tennessee Titans. A quarterback as the top pick is a big deal, but many sports analysts have touted this year’s QB class as not good. Nonetheless, this is a good move for the Titans who were 3-14 last season. Their biggest problem was their endless turnovers. An issue that can be solved with the help of Ward, who is a natural playmaker with good hands. If all goes well, this will be a great way for the Titans to finally rebuild after a horrible period of play and roster constructions. The Tennessee Titans just need to lock in and properly develop Cam Ward to be a quality quarterback.
Travis Hunter: Jacksonville Jaguars
What may have been the biggest moment of the night involved the two way player. The Cleveland Browns traded the second pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars – immediately after Cam Ward was selected. The Browns also gave the Jaguars a fourth-round pick, a sixth-round pick, and a 2026 first. Regardless, Travis Hunter has been touted as a generational talent. Hunter can play as a wide receiver and cornerback capable of excelling at both ends on the field. He’s insanely athletic, an excellent playmaker, and has great hand-eye coordination – almost as if Lebron James is playing football. The Jaguars clearly picked out a dime in the sand, so all eyes will be on this team to see if the trade was all worth it.
Abdul Carter: New York Giants
The New York Giants picked edge rusher Abdul Carter at No.3. Carter was originally thought to be the No. 1 pick but things changed. It comes as a bit of a shocker, considering the Giants are in need of a quarterback. However, last season, The Giants tied for eighth in the league for pass rushing: 45 sacks. Carter had the third highest total in the nation with 24 sacks back in college. So adding Abdul Carter would be a big help in that area.
There were countless more moments, but these ones were possibly the most important in the 2025 NFL Draft. Hopefully, the draft picks pan out to their full potential. There is a bunch of talent scattered across this draft class, a treasure is bound to be excavated at some point in the season or better yet – the future.
