Keeping up with the Guardian Angels

The Guardian Angels are Asked to Return to Crown Heights

On August 19th of 1991 the Guardian Angels were asked by the Orthodox Jews to help them as they were under attack during the Crown Heights riots.  The NYPD had been told by the Mayor to stand down.  There was 3 days of anarchy when finally the Mayor sent the police in.  For the next 3 months the Guardian Angels patrolled around the clock from the corner of President Street and Kingston Avenue.  At the end of our stay the Rebbe, Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in honor of our service gave each Guardian Angel a blessing and a Rebbe dollar.

Then on Friday December 27th, the community put out an SOS to the Guardian Angels to return because of the feeble response that de Blasio was providing.  We have been there ever since and have also been asked to patrol Williamsburg, Borough Park, Midwood & Flatbush.  This is the Guardian Angel response to more than a dozen anti-Semitic attacks averaging 1 a day.
