Donald Trump is a petulant child for begging supporters to pay his bond. (Op-Ed)

Former President Donald Trump has resorted to begging MAGA supporters to rally the funds to pay his $454 million bond in the New York civil fraud case. The message reads “KEEP YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF TRUMP TOWER!” which Reuters reported was sent out by a joint fundraising committee that allocates donations to Trump’s 2024 campaign and a separate political committee that has been paying the former president’s legal bills, “Insane radical Democrat AG Letitia James wants to SEIZE my properties in New York. THIS INCLUDES THE ICONIC TRUMP TOWER! So, before the day is over, I’m calling on ONE MILLION Pro-Trump patriots to chip in and say: STOP THE WITCH HUNT AGAINST PRESIDENT TRUMP!” The memo urges supporters to donate amounts ranging from $20.24 to $3,300 or more.

That unhinged message reads like a temper tantrum! I’ve met toddlers with more emotional control than Donald Trump, who uses caps lock like it’s going out of style. Real American Patriots do not donate thousands of their hard-earned dollars to fund the bond of a criminal former president who destroyed their country. Yet, Trump goads his rabid followers to the point of zealous rigor. In his desperation, he screams at his fans that he needs money, and he needs it NOW!

Trump doesn’t ask politely but relies on manipulation tactics to beg middle-class Americans for a handout. For a man who is so against helping low-income families, it’s incredibly ironic that he is begging through a mass email chain. Have you seen that episode of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie’s mom stands in front of a crowd and says “Money me. Money now. Me a money needing a lot now,” in a scam where she pretends to have cancer? The resemblance is uncanny.

He’s right about one thing, though. Trump Tower is iconic, but not for the reasons Trump believes. When I think of that infamous building, I think of Arasaka Tower from CD Projekt RED’s Cyberpunk: 2077 — a building that stands for the oppression of the poor and shady business practices.

I’m truly sorry that no one is willing to give you almost half a billion dollars, Trump. Keep the memos up, they’re funny as hell. I wonder just how much lower you can go.
