The U.S.A. Basketball team beat Serba 105-79 in the final game of the U.S.A. Basketball Showcase in Abu Dhabi, just over a week ahead of the 2024 Olympics.in Paris.
Stephen Curry demonstrated his offensive prowess with 24 points, pulling through with a great game after two games that were lacking offensively. Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo put up another 17 points in the blowout win.
Curry started the game by scoring the first nine points for the U.S..
With Anthony Edwards putting up 16 points, Lebron James adding another 11, and Anthony Davis finishing with seven points, six rebounds, and six blocks, the game had all the stars doing what they do best.
Nikola Jokić, star of the Denver Nuggets and starter for Serbia, was held to just 16 points and 11 rebounds. This was the second game for Serbia, playing Australia two days before that ended in defeat. Serbia has been resting its captain Bogdan Bogdanovic for two games now.
The U.S.A. Basketball team overall edged out Serbia on all fronts. Serbia was held to a measly 41% shooting for the game, and the U.S. had Serbia beat 30-21 on rebounds as well.
Still testing their starters, the U.S. started with Curry, Jrue Holiday, Jayson Tatum, James, and Joel Embiid against Serbia. Curry, James, and Embiid are the only players to start all three games. While Embiid is not performing as well as the team hoped, he is still active both offensively and defensively, finding passes and cutters and being a body between drives to the hoop.
Kevin Durant has sat for the third straight game while he recovers from a calf strain suffered in training camp.
Derrick White made his debut as Kawhi Leonard’s replacement with four rebounds and one assist in his nine minutes on the court.
