Comparing Aaron Judge’s 2024 Season to his Historic 2022 Run

The Yankees are three games into the second half of the 2024 season, and team captain Aaron Judge sits atop the league with 35 home runs to this point. Fans are reminiscing about 2022 and wondering if Judge can break his AL record of 62 homers. But his recent “slump” prevents him from repeating history.

Back in July of 2022, Judge hit 13 home runs, which was his highest mark in one month for that season. This put him at an astonishing 42 total homers by August 1st. This season, Judge sits at 35 with 9 games left for the Bombers in July, a large feat to make it back to historic pace from two years ago. So, is it possible for him to crack 62? Probably not.

After reviewing his 2022 breakdown, Judge hit nine in August, ten in September, and just one in October. While it would be extremely tough to repeat outdo that three-month stretch, I never put anything past Aaron Judge. With that said New York has 61 games to go for Judge to hit 27 home runs. If you do the math, Judge will have to hit just about one home run every other game.

Although he may not surpass that 62 home run mark, the Yank’s center fielder has still been performing at an extremely high level. Judge is batting .309 (5th in the MLB) with 89 RBIs (1st in the MLB) in addition to those 35 homers. Judge also leads the league in OPS (on-base plus slugging) at 1.116, and extra-base hits with 60 on the year. This season he has proved to doubters that he doesn’t need to rely on just the long ball for his success, and has solidified himself as the best bat in baseball.
