Love thrillers? Check out these amazing authors (Op-Ed)

A self-diagnosed bookworm, I have to say I’m partial to thrillers. The suspense, carefully written characters, and not knowing what’ll happen next make for a perfect read.

For those who love thrillers or want to get into them, I’ve compiled a list of thriller authors, and one of their books I’d recommend, for you to choose from.

  1. JP Delaney

Delaney’s suspenseful books always involve a twist that is hard to see coming. Whether at the beginning, middle, or end of the book, once you reach it you’re truly floored.

The JP Delaney book I’d recommend is “Playing Nice”. It’s about two couples who learn their sons were switched at birth. While they plan to make things work, things go south relatively quickly.

An amazing story about the lengths one would go to keep their loved ones safe, “Playing Nice” is a book no thriller lover should miss.

    2) Greer Hendricks & Sarah Pekkanen

These two make such a great team that I can’t separate them. Books by Hendricks and Pekkanen often feature a female protagonist who has to dig deep and find inner strength for themselves, someone else, or both.

From these two, I would recommend “The Wife Between Us”. The point is to go in not knowing what to expect, so here is all that Goodreads tells you:

“When you read this book, you will make many assumptions.

You will assume you are reading about a jealous ex-wife.

You will assume she is obsessed with her replacement – a beautiful woman…about to marry the man they both love.

You will assume you know the anatomy of this tangled love triangle.

    Assume nothing”.

    3) Marieke Nijkamp

Quite possibly the most underrated author on this list, Nijkamp is truly unique. Often having multiple narrators, her books are quick reads but that doesn’t make them any less enjoyable. Exploring difficult situations or circumstances, her books offer the chance to discuss topics we don’t usually think of.

From Nijkamp, I would recommend “At the End of Everything”. The book focuses on The Hope Juvenile Treatment Center, its teenage residents abandoned during a COVID-style pandemic. You don’t want to miss this story of survival and finding strength against all odds.

Hopefully one or more of these piqued your interest! Remember, this isn’t the be-all and end-all of thriller books. There are so many out there to choose from. Have fun, look around, and happy reading!
