Megan Thee Stallion Files Restraining Order Against Tory Lanez

Rapper Megan Thee Stallion filed a restraining order on Tuesday, December 17, against fellow rapper Tory Lanez, despite the latter remaining in prison on a ten-year sentence for shooting the former in the foot. Megan alleged that Lanez has continued to stalk and harass her from prison, using third parties and social media.

In the official request, Megan alleged that Lanez, who is named as Daystar Peterson on court records, “traumatized” her in 2020 when he shot her and has “no signs of stopping.” On court records, Megan is referred to by her legal name, Megan Pete.

“Mr. Peterson is a violent and dangerous criminal, and his established pattern of behavior demonstrates the reasons this civil harassment restraining order is necessary to protect Ms. Pete and her wellbeing,” the request read.

The restraining order request alleges that Lanez employs third-party bloggers who he has continued to pay from jail to spread misinformation about Megan. One blogger named in the request is Milagro Cooper, who allegedly spread intentionally incorrect information on YouTube about the trial and Lanez’s conviction. Earlier this year, Megan also filed a civil lawsuit against Cooper.

Megan’s legal team also alleges that prison call logs show records of Lanez conspiring to defame her. They state that in one call, Lanez’s father asked about payments to be made to Cooper in exchange for deliberate harassment.

A nonprofit organization is representing Lanez. Following the request for a restraining order, his legal team accused her of lying. “At what point do we, as a society, stop believing the narrative they are pushing? And ask ourselves is ‘enough is enough?’” Unite the People said in a statement on Wednesday. “We trust the truth will be fully examined and proven through the legal process, and we remain 100% confident in our case.”

Megan countered that the harassment had caused her distress and reputational harm. “Mr. Peterson is fully aware of the impact of the psychological warfare he has waged against Ms. Pete, yet he continues to deputize his supporters to attack Ms. Pete’s character and integrity,” her request continued.
