Aaron Glenn, a former defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, has been hired as the new head coach of the New York Jets.
Glenn was the Jets’ first-round pick in 1994, and now he’s come back to take on the head coach role. This is truly a full-circle moment for Glenn as he rejoins the Jets at 52 years old.
Glenn spent the last three seasons as the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions, where he improved the Lion’s defense tremendously. Jets fans only hope that Glenn will now be able to work his magic on their team.
Beyond his time in Detroit, Glenn has built a strong coaching résumé. After retiring from playing, he continued his career as a scout before joining the New Orleans Saints as their defensive backs coach. Glenn also worked under Sean Payton and alongside defensive mastermind Dennis Allen.
Glenn has developed a reputation for being a strong motivator. Talking directly to his players on the Jets, Glenn said, “We’re the Freaking New York Jets, and we’re built for this shit!”
It’s no secret that the Jets haven’t been exceptional in the last couple of years. The last time the Jets made it to the playoffs was 2010. Will Glenn finally be able to take the Jets back to glory?
