The Appalachian Trail is Great for Hiking

Hiking is an activity that not everyone can appreciate just anywhere. Trekking through long distances of trees and rocks can be a relaxing hobby, and many places in the United States provide only the sounds of nature. One such trail is the Appalachian Trail, a must-go journey for hiking fans and those who love a lot of walking!

The Appalachian Trail stretches from the Springer Mountains in Georgia to Mount Katahdin in Maine, making it the longest hiking trail in the world. The average time it takes for an avid hiker to complete the trail is around seven months, but there is no need to fully walk it to experience some of the amazing sights that the trail provides.

There are many wonders to behold during the long distance, including many mountain views and river crossings. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one such location, with various ecosystems to discover and many other trails to explore. The Hudson River Crossing and Jefferson Rock provide great water scenery and Virginia has Thunder Ridge as the prime place for viewing the surrounding area.

There are also many detours to towns along the way for hikers to get a bite to eat and rest. Even if you’re not ready to commit to such a long hike, you should check it out for a day and get away from the hassle of loud noises and the busy lifestyle of modern living. It’s good to get in touch with nature for a while and reconnect with the wonderful planet we live on!
