Dead Crowds at Coachella are a Sign That Influencers Care More About Appearances Than The Music

Day 0 of Coachella was a bit of a mess this year for those camping thanks to the 8-hour-long waits in their cars and disorganization around who could set up where in the campsite. Regardless, people’s Twitter and TikTok threads were full of people excited to get to the campsite, set up, and experience one of the biggest music festivals in the country if not the world. One social media personality filmed the first night at Charli XCX where the crowd looked lively and like everyone was having a good time, but it seems like the fun stopped there. 

Throughout the first weekend, people posted videos of performances from stars like Lady Gaga, Lisa from BlackPink, and other big names where you would expect the audience to be singing, dancing and overall enjoying themselves, but the crowds were completely dead. One influencer said they feared someone filing them from an unflattering angle and getting a goofy still of them, and a lot of people must have felt that way because a majority of performances that fans have posted have been full of still, silent crowds that apparently care more about looking cool than enjoying the music. 

Although a lot of crowds seemed dead, Coachella’s headliners this year, Greenday, had a crowd full of fans singing along and recording as you would expect from fans of Greenday’s type of music. However, for fans of Megan thee Stallion who sings about dancing and feeling good, the vibes should be much different. Hopefully by the time Coachella comes around again next year, influencers will know whether or not they actually want to be at a music festival or just look cute for some pictures and leave the festivals to the real music lovers.
