Let’s be real – NFL fans have been aware of the organization’s focus on going global. During the most recent Super Bowl, commercials aired highlighting the league’s potential expansion to Africa – a campaign similar to the NBA’s international efforts over the last two decades. The momentum now leads into an organized schedule for international games later this year.
The NFL announced seven international games being played in 2025. The locations will be held in countries such as Berlin and Madrid, with the league also returning to Brazil and London for select matchups.
The international game will begin on Sept. 5, 2025 – when the Kansas City Chiefs and the Los Angeles Chargers will compete in Sao Paulo. The last international will occur in Madrid Nov. 16, 2025 – consisting of the Miami Dolphins and the Washington Commanders.
The Minnesota Vikings will make history in 2025 – becoming the first team to play two international games in two different countries in consecutive weeks. The Vikings are expected to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in Dublin before traveling to London the week after to face the Cleveland Browns.
The NFL is making steady progress to expand the brand’s international potential. The NFL has made plans to play in Australia for the 2026 season – a move signaling the league’s continued effort to grow the brand overseas.
