Athlete of the Month for September 2025
Coco Gauff is an American female tennis player. Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Gauff began playing tennis at the age of six. Seeing her talent her parents enrolled Gauff into theNew Generation Tennis Academy starting two years later where she mentored with Gerard Loglo.
Gauff’s parents focused heavily on her training, putting her in the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in France at age ten while she was homeschooled. Patrick Mouratoglou, coach of Serena Williams sponsored Gauff through his Champ’Seed foundation, which helps junior players with financial needs to afford training.
The work paid off, and Gauff had her first major win at the USTA Clay Court National 12-and-under title at the age of 10 years and three months to become the youngest champion in the tournament’s history
Gauff professionally debuted in 2019 at age 15 in the 2019 Miami Open and reached the fourth round. Her first WTA Tour win came during the 2019 Linz Open. Her succes gradually increased from there until she had her first title win in 2023 at the Cincinnati Open and her first singles win a short time later at the US Open. 2025 saw Gauff wining her second singles title at the French Open.
