This last Sunday, December 14th, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home. The death was reported by the daughter of Reiner and Singer, Romy. Allegedly, they were found with slit throats according to a dispatch call report.
Rob Reiner, a 78-year-old American film director, producer, actor, and screenwriter, was known for his work in Hollywood. He was famous for his acting roles in “All in the Family” and “The Wolf of Wall Street”. He also grew in prominence for his director role in films such as “The Princess Bride”, “Misery”, and “A Few Good Men”.
Nick Reiner, the middle son of the family, was arrested and charged as a suspect in the murder of Rob and Michele Reiner. Allegedly, before the murder occurred on Sunday, Nick was seen in a heated argument with Rob and Michle at a Hanukkah party on Saturday. He is currently being held at Park Center Jail, and his bail has been set at $4 million.
Nick Reiner, a 32-year-old man, has been known for suffering from drug addiction from a very young age. He was a screenwriter in the 2016 film “Being Charlie”, a film directed by his father.
After the news of the suspected murder was announced, many across the world have taken to social media and have given their condolences to the grieving family. Former President Joe Biden gave the following statement on X: “Jill and I send our deepest condolences to everyone whose lives were touched by Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner’s extraordinary contributions. We take solace in knowing their work will live on for generations to come.”
Harry Shearer, a friend of Rob Reiner for many years, had this to say: “He was what is known in Hollywood is known as a mensch; just an all-around trustworthy, reliable, wonderful person, and he was.” He continues, “I have these this memory of sitting around his office and it was just non-stop laughs. Rob was the kind of funny person that didn’t fear or resent being around other people who were funny.”
The investigation is still ongoing regarding the murder, and more information is expected to be revealed in the coming days.
