Former NY Jets Star Uses ChatGPT for Advice after Murder

People use ChatGPT for everything—-writing resignation letters, cheating on homework, brainstorming new business proposals—quite literally everything. The possibilities are endless, and ChatGPT has become a reliable tool for helping people think in ways that they have never thought possible…but who knew that ChatGPT could be used as a source of advice after a murder? To assume that no one has used ChatGPT for the wrong reasons would be a bit naive, but no one in their wildest dreams would have imagined ChatGPT being used as a cover-up for a gruesome murder.

Former New York Jets player, Darron Lee, has now been charged with first-degree murder after killing his girlfriend, Gabriella Perpetuo, on February 5, 2026. Perpetuo was found covered in stab wounds and her neck was broken. She had several bruises all over and suffered trauma to the head. Police and medical staff were dispatched to the scene. While the medical team did everything they could to save Perpetuo’s life, she died as a result of the incident.

The most alarming details are those found in Lee’s ChatGPT searches. Following Perpetuo’s murder, Lee used ChatGPT for ways to cover up his now-deceased girlfriend’s death. The former Jets star masked his suspicious activity through inquisitions that requested advice on what to do after a self-inflicted assault. It was revealed in the messages that were sent between Lee and ChatGPT that Lee stated “Don’t know what to do right now. Fiancee did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up, I wake up and she has two swollen eyes (I didn’t do anything, self-inflicted).”

Many of Lee’s questions to ChatGPT inquired if certain wounds or injuries could be caused by accidents. According to the New York Post, he asked the digital application if a person could have puncture wounds as a result of slipping and falling. He tried to frame the questions in a way in which he could avoid incriminating himself, making it clear through his responses that he had nothing to do with the injuries that were inflicted on his fiancee. He tried to use ChatGPT for ways to make the incident look more like an accident rather than a murder. Unfortunately, for Lee, his deceptive behavior caught up with him as he is now facing serious charges for killing his girlfriend, and his tampering of important evidence has landed him in a situation that he may be unable to get out of.
