Adams Backs Cuomo in NYC Mayoral Race

In a recent meeting between New York City Mayor Eric Adams and former Governor Andrew Cuomo, Adams came out and showed his support for Cuomo to win the race to replace him as mayor. This endorsement came just two days before the early votes can be cast.

In a statement from Adams, he said, “Andrew and I are two kids from New York, and when you think about it, Andrew and his brother, and I have three of them, and brothers fight,” he continues, “But when families are attacked, brothers come together. They understand that you have to protect the family.”

Adams and Cuomo have sought to mend the bridges they burned during the race and present a unified front against Zohran Mamdani, the Democratic nominee. Cuomo ran in this race as an independent but has said that he is a Democrat.

Cuomo had this to say about Mamdani, “Zohran is not a Democrat. Democratic socialist is a different thing. It shouldn’t even have the word ‘democratic’ in front of it. They are socialists. Look up the platform of the Democratic Socialists of America. It has nothing to do with the Democratic party,”.

Cuomo does not believe Mamdani is a true democrat and supported Eric Adams’ statement that called Mamdani an “existential threat to New York City”. Cuomo has also raised the concerns that Mamdani has ignited in minority groups such as LGBT communities.

The race for the new mayor of New York City is set to be an interesting one, with both prominent candidates being Democrats. The final debate has been held, and now it lies in the hands of the people to decide how the future of NYC will be shaped.
