Atmosphere is a notable American hip-hop duo consisting of rapper Sean Daley aka Slug and DJ/producer Anthony Davis aka Ant. Formed in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1996, the duo had undergone several name changes before settling on Atmosphere.

Atmosphere’s first album Overcast! released in 1997 and did well thanks to the album’s single Scapegoat playing on college radio stations. Atmosphere was also featured Deep Puddle Dynamics and The Dynospectrum, albums from two underground rap super groups around the same time.

A year later, Atmosphere would release their second full-length album, Headshots Se7en to critical acclaim despite being released on cassette. Their success would lead the duo to begin touring the country regularly into the early 2000s. 

Atmosphere would continue on with great success, and by 2025 the duo has 14 albums to their name. The duo have made a name for themselves locally and globally, involving themselves in many collaborative projects with indie artists including Aesop Rock, Mac Lethal, Jean Grae, Grieves, DJ Vadim, Booka B, El-P, MF Doom, Roosevelt Franklin, Grayskul and more.

The duo continues to tour to this day and remains an iconic part of Minneapolis culture.
