"New" Artist of the Month for December 2024
Brittney Spencer is a rising American country singer. Born in Baltimore, Maryland, Spencer was introduced to music through her local church. While developing her own singles skills through singing within her church, she was introduced to country singers like The Chicks and became enraptured with the genre.
As she grew up, Spencer learned the guitar and piano and even got a vocal coach. This all led to her first step into pursuing a country music career, moving to Nashville Tennessee in early 2013 to attend Middle Tennessee State University.
Her early days in Nashville proved difficult to find good work but eventually, opportunities came. Spencer began performing in local clubs and venues, and even as a background singer. However, it was a cover of The Highwomen’s “Crowded Table” that got her the public’s attention. The cover was posted on X/Twitter, which was seen and praised highly by country industry veterans. Soon after, Spencer released her debut extended play Compassion.
Spencer continued to release new singles and eventually released her debut album , My Stupid Life, in January 2024. Spencer has continued collaborate with her fellow country artists others outside the genre including Jason Isbell, The Highwomen, Willie Nelson, Reba, Bobby Weir, Maren Morris, Megan Thee Stallion and Lauryn Hill,
