Can Coffee Lower Type 2 Diabetes?

To echo the late Rick James—Caffeine is one helluva drug. That’s why everyone goes to brands like Dunkin Donuts and Starbucks. Ain’t nothing like that morning coffee run to boost your energy.

Now there have been criticisms over the years about Coffee. How bitter it tastes. The ethical concerns of coffee beverage production. And of course the health risks pertaining to caffeine intake.

However, what if I told you that Coffee has a benefit. A crucial one specifically that can serve as a reducer. To keep it short — coffee can lower the risk of Type 2 Diabetes.

Caffeinated and decaffeinated can reduce the disease. Studies reason that this is due to coffee’s antioxidants such as chlorogenic acid, regulates blood sugar levels. It even improves insulin sensitivity. So, if you end up getting a reaction — coffee could support you in the long run

However, you would have to drink it in moderation. At best 2-4 cups a day is the limit to drink coffee. Consuming more than that and the risks might heighten.

Polyphenol is another antioxidant that can aid in preventing Type 2 Diabetes.  Which helps keep the heart healthy. Minerals magnesium and chromium are small amounts in coffee but the former has shown with increased intake, the risk of Type 2 Diabetes lowers. 

For all these benefits, it is always safe to check in with a doctor or healthcare provider of how much coffee you can consume. Moderation is key. So best believe it’s imperative to make sure your sugar levels and health are in good shape.
