Can We Just Let Women Age Naturally?

What’s the obsession with looking younger than you are and going under the knife just to look a certain way? Why can’t we just let women age like they were supposed to? It’s probably because of the criticism women get.

We hear this all the time, with men (and women) preferring “natural” women but criticizing women when they look older than 20. Just look at Milly Bobby Brown on her 21st birthday. Brown’s comments were filled with people telling her she looks 30. Why is it normalized to talk to women in this manner? It might just be me, but I don’t see people commenting on male celebrities’ posts telling them they look older than they are. Instead, they are celebrated for being “DILFs” or “Daddy-material.”

I’ve also seen some people say that it’s not Milly Bobby Brown’s fault that she looks older; it’s her stylist. Many people have criticized her makeup, saying that it doesn’t flatter her features, her clothing style is “old,” and her cold-blonde hair doesn’t match her undertone. Regardless, no one pays this much attention to a man’s appearance.

This is why women constantly get work done to meet the societal expectation that they look younger than they are. I don’t know if anyone else agrees with me, but aging with Botox looks scarier to me than aging naturally. Some people, like Jessica Alba, can pull it off, but others should’ve laid off the fillers.

However, I think women should still have the option to change their appearance to whatever makes them happy, but not to fit some societal standard. Women shouldn’t be insecure about age naturally; that’s how we were supposed to age anyway.
