Now that there’s been two wins after opening the season with a lot of back-to-back losses, this victory shows us a glimpse of real change. The Jets, which are officially 2-7, can now say they are building something instead of simply hoping for the best.
What made this game stand out? First, special teams changed the game from the very start. A 99-yard kickoff return, meaning the ball was caught and run all the way back for 99 yards for a touchdown by Kene Nwangwu, and a 74-yard punt return touchdown by Isaiah Williams gave the Jets a score of 14-7, leading the game early. That kind of momentum helps lift a team when the offense is having a hard time.
Second, the game-winning play: Breece Hall took a screen pass from Justin Fields and ran 42 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter. That broke the tie they had going on and gave more momentum.
