Juan Camilo Sanchez aka DJ Camilo is a Colombian-American DJ. Born in Queens, New York City, got an interest in mixing music after being gifted turntables at age 12.

Camilo eventually released CAMILO Vol. 1, his debut mixtape in the late 90’s to a positive response. That fueled his creativity to release more mixtapes and spread his name throughout the club scene in NYC. Eventually, his mixtapes caught the eye of New York’s Hot 97’s DJ Enuff, who invited Camilo to join his DJ crew called The Heavy Hitters alongside DJ Threat.

Camilo worked his way up until he was able to host his own  Saturday Night Show on Hot 97 called Take It to the Streets. The show was so successful that he was able to host a Friday night show called The Heavy Hitter Hour. Thanks to his night shows, Camilo was able to be one of the first to merge Latin urban music into the American radio scene at Hot 97.

Camilo has toured across the country and even internationally, to France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Japan, Sweden, Finland, and more.

He’s been named the top East Coast DJ by the Global Spin Awards and Latin Mixx’s East Coast DJ of the Year in 2010.
