Dom’s Top 5 College Football Teams after Week 2

Week two of the college football season is in the books, and with that comes the latest AP Poll for the best teams in the country. This week the poll reads 1. Georgia 2. Texas 3. Ohio St. 4. Alabama 5. Ole Miss. While I agree with most of the teams, I don’t agree with the order. Below I give my top five and why I see things differently.

5. Missouri

Mizzou has yet to let up a point defensively this season and has dominated their competition by a combined score of 89-0.  The pass offense has not been great but the Tiger’s offensive line and run game have been phenomenal thus far. Although it was Murray State and Buffalo, I truly believe Mizzou can be a sneaky good team come playoff time.

4. Ole Miss

In my eyes, Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart has been the best play caller in the country so far. Through two games he has 795 yards, six TDs, and no interceptions. This Ole Miss team has it all and is one of my favorites to win it all. They have not exactly played a high level of competition so I am curious to see how they look against a scrappy Wake Forest team on Saturday.

3. Texas

The Longhorns went into the Big House and dominated the defending champs last week by scoring 31-12. As I said in a blog on Friday, I anticipated a blowout because of the high-powered offense and stifling defense of Texas. Bond and Blue made play after play for Texas and if they continue to do that they’ll stay a top-three team in the country.

2. Ohio State

OSU has been the team that has impressed me the most so far this season. In all facets of the game, they have been perfect. Again, they have yet to face a real team but I think this roster has what it takes to win a National Championship and is the best in college football and nothing I have seen through week two has told me otherwise. The only reason they are number two is because another team looks perfect too.

1. Georgia

Georgia is the only team on this list aside from Texas to play a ranked opponent so far this year. The Bulldogs destroyed the Clemson Tigers in week one and won by 45 in week two. I was very close to giving the edge to the Buckeyes, but they still have a lot to prove. Meanwhile, Georgia has looked like this for four consecutive years and until they lose or look vulnerable at all, they have to be number one.
