Dr. Phill’s Son Faces Lawsuit from New York City

A lawsuit against Jordan McGraw, the son of well-known television star Dr. Phill, was filed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. New York City is directly suing McGraw Media Inc and Jordan McGraw, the president of the company. The terms of the lawsuit detail that McGraw refused to remove content from a reality show he produced after the city stated the clips were too dangerous to air. These clips showed unblurred faces of undercover New York Police Department officers, the security code to one of the precinct’s doors, unblurred footage of those in police custody, and more content that was deemed harmful to the police department and the general public.

McGraw’s show is to be called ‘Behind the Badge,’ and is planned to reveal behind the scenes operations of the NYPD. Former Mayor of NYC Eric Adams approved the project during his terms, with the contract of the city and NYPD being able to review the footage and cut out anything they deem unsafe or not available to the public. The contract also ensured that no content that could allow the NYPD to be seen in a negative light would be aired on the show.

However, the lawsuit states that McGraw did not follow the contract and kept material that the city deems harmful to the city, city employees, the NYPD, and the general public. Four episodes of the series were aired in December, but fourteen episodes remain that reveal raw and uncut interviews and footage of the NYPD. New York City ended the contract on December 31, 2025 due to McGraw and the company being unable to maintain their obligations. Despite the contract being terminated, the lawsuit states that the company plans on selling the footage to either a buyer or releasing the series independent from the city.

New York City is seeking for the footage to be placed back into custody of the city, to block any possible sale of the footage or independent release, and to receive compensation for the breach of contract. McGraw nor his company have spoken out, and Dr. Phill nor his company have as well. NYPD and city officials have also not made any public comments regarding the lawsuit or the timeline of future events.
