Tech mogul Elon Musk was in attendance for the Sunday Night Football matchup between the Dallas Cowboys and Pittsburgh Steelers. Musk was sitting in Thomas Tull’s box suite at the stadium. Tull is a principal investor for a manufacturing project in western Pennsylvania.
Tull orchestrated a phone call between Musk and Josh Shapiro, the Governor of Pennsylvania. According to multiple sources, Musk told Gov. Shapiro that he wants to invest in factories in areas around Pennsylvania, starting in Pittsburgh. Specific details were not discussed but he informed him he was very intrigued by the idea of putting money into making the area a better place.
After an event in Centre County Josh Shapiro spoke on the matter, “Thomas and Elon were at the Steelers game together and called me about some ideas that Elon Musk has in investing in Pennsylvania, creating jobs and economic opportunity, and I was pleased to hear about it.”
Shapiro recognized their clear political differences and said that they “obviously didn’t talk about politics…we focused on what I try and do every single day, which is bringing jobs and economic opportunity and growth to Pennsylvania. And I want to see more investment, especially in southwestern Pennsylvania.”
