Latin Artist of the Month for February 2025
Juan Fernando Fonseca Carrera aka Fonseca is a popular Colombian singer-songwriter. Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Fonseca found an interest in singing at a young age. Encouraged by his parents, Fonseca continued to pursue music at Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota and at Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Fonseca began his proffesional music career following his college graduation by releasing his first album Bomba de Tiempo and selling it door-to-door or to various patrons. His first studio album came after signing on Líderes Entertainment Group record label in 2002. The self titled album gave him notable recognition within Colombia by the public and artists like Shakira and Juanes,
His second studio album, Corazón, lead him to win the Best New Tropical Artist category in both the Premios Lo Nuestro and MTV Latin Music Awards. As the years went on Fonseca continued to grow his presence within and outside the Latin music scene.
Currently, he has released eight studio albums and has sold over a million units worldwide. Additionally, Fonseca has contribute towards many humanitarian causes within Colombia, even working with its government to educate other countries on Colombia’s culture and history.
