Gleyber Torres is a popular Venezuelan professional baseball player. Born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela, Torres began playing baseball at a young age and grew to love the game through watching matches on the TV.

Torres played throughout his grade school years, making a big jump at 14 to enroll in an academy with contacts to MLB scouts in an effort to become a professional player.

Eventually, Torres was able to sign on with the Chicago Cubs in 2013 as a free agent. He debuted with the rookie team the Arizona Cubs a year later, working his way through rookie teams over the years until he debuted on the Yankees in 2018, where he was third in the running for the American League Rookie of the Year Award, behind Shohei Ohtani.
