‘Hazbin Hotel’ prepares for release day with live performances and previews

With nearly a week until its Amazon Prime release day, “Hazbin Hotel” is speeding up the hype train with trailers, previews and even a live performance.

Monday saw the New York premiere of the animated musical comedy for the cast and select guests, followed by an afterparty at Don’t Tell Mama featuring live performances of the show’s soundtrack by cast members – stated to be a dream come true by creator Vivienne Medrano.

“The hugs, tears, and SONGS we shared as a cast and crew, watching this project that we’ve all been working on for the last 3 to 7 years finally see the light of day,” songwriter Sam Haft tweeted the same night. “I’m on cloud nine.”

Ahead of the premiere, A24 also released a taste of the soundtrack in the form of two full songs: Erika Henningsen’s demonic Disney princess ballad “Happy Day In Hell” and Blake Roman’s dark dance beat “Poison.”

Since Tuesday, the official Twitter has also been dropping bite-sized introduction videos for the main ensemble of characters, showing off the Broadway-grade voice cast inhabiting Medrano’s “Hellaverse” – which in late December was revealed to include the voices of Leslie Rodriguez Kritzer, Lilli Cooper, Sarah Stiles and Shoba Narayan in supporting roles.

James Monroe Iglehart and Brandon Rogers are also hopping over from “Hazbin” sister show “Helluva Boss” to voice minor characters.

“Hazbin Hotel” will premiere on Amazon Prime on Jan. 19 with four episodes, followed by two episodes a week leading up to a season finale on Feb. 2. A second season is already in production.
