Two men, ages 30 and 50, were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to the hospital, in critical condition, just after 6 pm. The 30-year-old, died from his wounds later saturday night, The 50 year old is still in critical condition. The shootings happened outside a restaurant on 2961 Fulton Street in Cypress Hills.
Shortly after the shootings, a person of intrest was taken into custody, but has yet to be charged. It is unknown if the shooter knew the victims. Survelliance footage captured two men standing on the sidewalk, below the elevated J train subway, near a group of about three men.
One of the men says something to the crew, and moments after a man in a gray jacket whips out a gun and fires several shots at him. The shooter continued to pump bullets into each victim as they lay motionless on the sidewalk, as seen by the footage.
One man was seen walking away from the scene as soon as the shooter took out his gun, he was dressed in dark clothing and white sneakers. Onlookers are wondering if he saw it coming and that is why he left.
Photos later captured onlookers at the scene as authorities swarmed the area, marking a large number of shell casings. The identities of the victims and the shooter are unknown and there is an on-going investigation. The 50-year-old is still in critical condition and it is unknown if he will recover.
Also on Easter Sunday a man was shot and killed in Brooklyn, near East 96th street just before 9:30pm. Officers responded to a call of shots fired and arrived, finding Anthony Kester, age 23, shot in the head. Another man is in critical condition after he was shot in East Harlem at 5pm, he was shot in the back after he got into a argument with the gunman near Park Avenenu.
Police say there are also non-fatal shootings in the Bronx, Queens and Staten Island, Sunday night.
