“Hollow Knight Silk Song,” by Team Cherry, an indie game development studio, was announced six years ago as a follow up to their game “Hollow Knight.” Many people were excited to play this new game when it was first announced, however, the wait for its eventual release was notoriously long, to the point where people joked about its eventual release being an impossibility online. However, come Sept 4, 2025, “Hollow Knight Silk Song,” released for people to play and to no one’s surprise it was a smash hit.
On release, the game had completely crashed almost every site it was being sold on due to the sheer number of people clambering to buy it. Steam, Nintendo eShop, the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store all went down due to the sheer amount of internet traffic and high demand that this one game developed by three indie developers generated, which says enough about how much hype the release of this game made.
The game itself, after it stopped crashing the sites it was being sold on, generated a lot of conversation among players. Many online content creators on YouTube such as MoistCr1TiKaL, Dokibird and so many others have played this game.
Many online have highly praised the game as it lived up to the expectations people had for the game. One reviewer, Meko Mansy, stated that “Silk Song is honestly a masterpiece. I went in with high expectations after how amazing the first Hollow Knight was and somehow Team Cherry managed to prove themselves all over again. This game isn’t just a good sequel, it feels like it deserves to stand right beside the original as something truly special.” It seems Team Cherry had knocked it out of the ballpark with this game as fans look forward to seeing what they make next.
