How the Disney Version and the Brothers’ Grimm Version are Hilariously Different

When you think of Disney, you think to yourself that no matter what, the good character will win, and the bad character will either be put away or run away into the darkness, never to be seen again. For example, we know the Disney version of The Little Mermaid, she gets the prince to love her, gets her voice back, and defeats the villain, Ursula.

The original story behind The Little Mermaid (my least favorite Disney film), however, when Ariel turns into a human in the Brothers’ Grimm version, she is constant agonizing pain, as well as sees “her” prince marry someone else. In the end, she sacrifices herself and throws herself into the ocean, becoming sea foam. (See, I told you, hilarious)

The Disney version of Cinderella is a delightful Disney movie for the whole family. Cinderella gets the dress, gets the prince, and her happily ever after, but as evil and desperate as her step sisters are in the Disney version in the Brothers’ Grimm version one sister tries to trick the prince in believing she was his true love by cutting off her toe to fit the shoe, and the other sister does similarly by cutting off her heel. Once Cinderella is happily wed, the pigeons pluck out the stepsister’s eyes.

Rapunzel, as we all know, stars in the Disney movie Tangled. An evil witch who came to her birth announcement finds out that her hair is magic and can heal you and make you younger. In the movie, she is kidnapped and forced to live in a tower, always wondering if her life is missing something. At the end, she gets saved by the prince and reunited with her parents.

In the Brothers’ Grimm version, however, the witch finds out about the prince’s nightly visit, and she tricks the prince into climbing the tower to cut off Rapunzel’s hair, only for her to push him out of the window. He is blinded in the fall but reunited with Rapunzel and the twins, who give birth to her tears that heal the prince’s eyes, and he can see again.

Whether you like the Disney version or the Brothers’ Grimm version better, in the end, they are all fun(and to some hilarious) to read or watch, and its good entertainment for everyone.
