How to Find Your Style

Finding your personal style nowadays can be hard because everything already seems to have a label or an “aesthetic.” For a long time, I was also a victim of aesthetics instead of finding my own style. Maybe you don’t fit one aesthetic, but maybe your style is a mix of aesthetics; who knows? I’m here to help you find what’s best for you.

So, the truth is, finding your personal style isn’t about adhering to someone else’s image of what’s “in” or “cool.” It’s about self-expression and finding what makes you feel comfortable, confident, and, most importantly, authentically you. It’s easy to get lost in the style that’s trending and what people tell you you should wear, but you have to find the best version of your style that’s uniquely yours. But what if the best version of your style is a blend of several different influences, a patchwork quilt of aesthetics that come together to form your unique look?

Perhaps your personality matches more to the soft, vintage-inspired pieces of cottagecore one day, and the next, you’re rocking a sleek, minimalist outfit. Or maybe you like a little bit of everything: bohemian, a dash of retro, and a hint of edgy street style. That’s the beauty of personal style: it’s fluid, it’s ever-evolving, and it can reflect all the different aspects of your personality. Don’t feel obligated to stick to the script.

So, how do you break free from the constraints of aesthetics and find what’s truly you? Start by tuning out the noise. Instead of chasing the latest trend or trying to recreate an influencer’s look, focus on what makes you feel good. Think about the clothes you reach for when you’re at your most comfortable and confident. Are you drawn to soft fabrics? Bold colors? Or perhaps the simplicity of a classic cut? What matters most is that you feel like yourself in whatever you wear.

If you’re stuck and need inspiration, don’t feel afraid to flip through fashion magazines like Vogue or scroll through Pinterest’s millions of inspirational photos. But don’t forget that you don’t have to fit into a specific style, just be unapologetically you!
