Flashback Athlete of the Month for September 2025

Bio

Terry Gene Bollea aka Hulk Hogan, was an American professional wrestler and media personality. Born in Augusta, Georgia, Hogan grew an interest in professional wrestling during high school while playing in a variety of rock bands throughout his school years. Hogan entered the professional space as a trainee under the trainer Hiro Matsudabe before debuting as the The Super Destroyer against Brian Blair in Fort Myers, Florida, in 1977.

Hogan’s career grew rapidly until the 80s where he quickly became the quintessential face of wrestling. Most of his well-known work was made under the macho persona Hulk Hogan. Hogan was the malign highlight of the WWF’s WrestleMania with his reign being the third longest in its history.

Hogan has won numerous awards, including 12 world championships in WWE and WCW, and a Kid’s Choice Award. He has been inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, named Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Wrestler of the Year three times, and inducted into the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Alumni Hall of Fame.
