Artist of the Month for May 2025
Imagine Dragons is an American pop-rock band from Las Vegas, Nevada. The band formed in 2008 when its lead singer Dan Reynolds met Andrew Tolman at Brigham Young University in Utah. Shortly after, both Reynolds and Tolman recruited Andrew Beck, Dave Lemke, and Aurora Florence for guitar, bass, and piano, respectively.
After uploading demos to MySpace both Beck and Florence left the band, causing Tolman to recruit his friend Wayne Sermon, and later his wife, Brittany Tolman. Unfortunately, Lemke was the next to level, causing Tolman to recruit Ben McKee,as their bassist. After growing a significant fanbase in Utah, the band moved to Las Vegas where theu eventually released three EPs in 2009, 2010, and 2011. The success from those releases led to them signing on with Interscope Records in November 2011.
During that time, Tolman left the group, and the keyboardist Daniel Platzmar was recruited. The band began working with artist Alex da Kid on their first projects in the studio. They later released the EP Continued Silence and their debut album Night Visions in 2012.
The album was a massive success, with its single Radioactive reaching No. 1 Billboard’s Alternative Songs, Rock Songs, and on Swedish singles chart. It also became one of the top three most sold songs digitally in the music industry.
The band continued to experience massive amounts of success, working on projects for films in the Transformers franchise and even becoming frequent collaborators on events for League of Legends.
Currently, the band has released six studio albums, sold over 74 million albums, and 65 million digital songs.
