Is ‘Ocean’s 14’ actually happening?

After ‘Ocean’s 8’ was released in 2018, most people believed this would be the last we saw of the ‘Ocean’s’ franchise, but there might be more to come. There have been years of rumors surrounding which cast members would come back, which wouldn’t, and whether or not the stars could align for one final movie.

George Clooney said in an interview, “We have a really good script for another Ocean’s now, so we may end up doing another one. It’s actually a great script. I don’t want to call it [Ocean’s 14]… I mean, the idea is kind of like Going In Style.” This sparked rumors yet again, leading to even more questions for other members of the cast.

In early August, Matt Damon promoted his new Apple TV+ show where he and fellow ‘Oceans’ star Casey Affleck share the screen together yet again. During an interview, Damon was asked about the possibility of doing another movie and seemed pretty optimistic. “Yeah. I guess it’ll be up to you if we can get the whole group together and get a good script. We’ll see where it goes, but we haven’t heard much at this point. But, we’re obviously open to it. We love all those guys in that whole group, and it would be really fun, obviously.”

Even more recently Edward Berger addressed the rumors about being approached to direct the next ‘Oceans’. He said although he was”honored” to be in the conversation, he had not been approached to direct the film.

According to ScreenRant, “The script, cast, director, and other essential elements need to be finalized”, meaning there is still a lot of work to do. That said, I think we are closer than ever to finishing ‘Ocean’s’ story and it seems like the fans aren’t the only ones who are interested in seeing that happen.
