Is the Era of Marvel Movies Dead?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) has a special place in my heart ever since I was a child. One of the first movies I ever watched as a child was a Marvel movie. The first Iron Man movie was a comfort film for me, having watched it dozens of times over the years. As a result of the final film in the Infinity War saga, Avengers: Endgame, two of the three biggest heroes of the universe, Tony Stark and Captain America, met their ends in the film. Now, a cinematic universe built by these characters has to stand on its own with new heroes, and it has been failing.

After Endgame, many of the legacy characters that fans had been with for over a decade were retired, and the universe began introducing a new wave of characters to take their place as the figureheads of the universe. However, the characters introduced could not capture the hearts of fans like me like the characters of the past.

Several of the new characters felt like pale imitations of the characters fans loved and lacked the character complexity that made those characters interesting. Then, some characters that continued their stories after the events of Endgame were mishandled and written in a way that betrayed the personality and morals those characters had before.

I was a fan of the Scarlet Witch in these movies, and it was sad to see what was done to her character by writers who admitted they did not know what they were doing with their own scripts.

After Endgame, the MCU began to include key parts of the overarching cinematic story in Disney+ shows, making it harder for fans to keep up with what is happening in the universe. With the Avengers: Doomsday movie nearing its release date, many fans are concerned that if this film does not perform well, it could be the end of the MCU.
