Pizza is a widely enjoyed food that comes in a wide variety of types, with two of the largest types of pizza being Italian style and American style pizza. Between these two pizzas, people often debate which one is the best, with the general reasoning behind the heated discussion between the two largely concerns authenticity, flavor and the overall appeal of each.
Many may argue that Italian pizza may be best due to the style in which it’s prepared, with a large focus on its authenticity. People point out how Italian pizza utilizes traditional ingredients such as basil, fresh mozzarella, arugula and crushed tomatoes among other ingredients in a minimalistic sense, baked in a wood fired oven and typically served unsliced. People often also point out how, with the less is more approach, the flavors can really come through. With its approach on quality over quantity and emphasis on freshness, Italian style pizza makes a strong case for why it may be favored.
American style pizza, however, isn’t without its own merits, with the sheer variety it offers creating a very strong case for itself. For one, American style pizza typically has more weight to it, with a typically more robust crust, although it can vary between different kinds of American pizza and typically more thick sauce. American pizza has the potential to serve as a more filling, hearty meal than Italian pizza may be able to provide. Typically served in slices, with its emphasis on large portions and a wider potential for customization, it’s no surprise why some may prefer American pizza.
