Every single new year brings more than resolutions and fresh starts, we are greeted with new fashion trends to become obsessed with. Brands release new items, designers become busy, and the media restarts the cycle of what is trending. Before we know it, there is a list of what is currently ‘in’ and what needs to be added to our carts.
Last year, we saw a lot of animal prints, polka dots, mini skirts, and baggy clothes. All of these will most likely flood into 2026, as their popularity has gone nowhere. However, we cannot expect a consistent repeat of what we loved in 2025. Fashion is always evolving, or cycling back into our lives from decades ago.
Looking online, we already see fashion gurus predicting what is in store for our closets. I think we will see a shift back into loving the basics, but putting a special spin on simple pieces. Accessories are the craze right now–big sunglasses, funky belts, statement jewelry. Little things spice up our wardrobe in a huge way, and utilizing small pieces can take a basic outfit and turn it into a certified Pinterest post. One of my personal favorites I have seen recently is using scarves or ties as a belt, which may seem crazy, but our fashion girls are loving them right now. It seems that accessories will be the main hit in 2026, in all different forms.
Along with accessories, shoes seem to be a hot topic when it comes to possible fashion trends this year. Straying away from basic sneakers, I have seen many people introducing kitten heels, ballerina slippers, and boots back into style. My favorite prediction is the ballerina slipper becoming trendy again, as they are such a simple and unique way to vamp up an outfit. Especially for everyday wear, as heels can be uncomfortable, ballerina slippers allow for the comfort and style without having to throw on a pair of sneakers. Kitten heels and boots are most likely going to be trendy for more elegant outfits, reintroducing us to styles of fashion gurus that came before us.
There is no doubt that fashion will be booked and busy this year. As the months roll along, we will be constantly introduced to pieces that we will fall in love with. The new year has begun–and so have new fashion trends.
