The official trailer for popular movie director James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film debuts this Thursday, December 19, 2024. Written and directed by Gunn, Superman (2025) is the first official movie in the new DC Cinematic Universe under the direction of James Gunn. While not much is known concerning the movie’s plot, fans expect it to return to the classical depictions of the superhero, a far cry from the gritty and more realistic depiction in Zach Snyder’s DC Extended Universe.
The recent poster and synopsis revealed on Gunn’s social media this Tuesday confirmed the public theories on the film’s change in themes.

The poster, a pleasant surprise to fans, was a nod to the iconic Christopher Reeves Superman combined with a modern flair. Additionally, a teaser trailer was released Wednesday morning. The teaser gave fans the first glimpse at the new versions of iconic Superman characters like Lois Lane, played by Rachel Brosnahan, and Jimmy Olsen, played by Skyler Gisondo.
The teaser revealed brief clips of Daily Planet reporters looking at news feeds and ordinary bystanders looking up in the sky, cut in between obscured shots of the titular Superman aka. Clark Kent, played by David Corenswet, flying in the air.
Superman (2025) is set to be one of the most highly anticipated films in 2025. This is not only because it is the first in a new cinematic universe but also because, for fans, it could be the film that makes or breaks future depictions of DC characters.
