JD Vance Threatens to Pull US out of Ukraine-Russia Peace Talks if Proposal Fails

United States Vice-President JD Vance gave a stern ultimatum for the Ukraine-Russian War peace talks in London this morning. According to the BBC, Vance said that the United States would “walk away” from the peace talks unless both Ukraine and Russia agreed on the US’s proposal. This comes after the London talks were temporarily halted following the departure of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and special envoy Steve Witkoff.

“It’s now time, I think, to take, if not the final step, one of the final steps, which is, at a broad level, the party saying we’re going to stop the killing, we’re going to freeze the territorial lines at some level close to where they are today,” said Vance.

“Now, of course, that means the Ukrainians and the Russians are both going to have to give up some of the territory they currently own,” he continued.

The proposal is rumored to be in a similar vein to its previous version, according to an anonymous European official. In this proposal, Russia would be allowed to keep control of its occupied Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has hardened his stance on a full and unconditional ceasefire on social media. Additionally, Zelensky pushed for the reclamation of the Crimean Peninsula on Tuesday and refused to recognize the Crimea as Russian territory.

In response, President Trump argued that Zelenskyy was prolonging the war by refusing to cede Crimea to Russia in a post on Truth Social. Zelenskyy remains firm in his stance.

The UK Foreign Office revealed that the peace talks have been postponed and will be closed to the media when they resume.
