Considered to be an indie pop duo, Joan consists of two members – Alan Thomas and Steven Rutherford from Little Rock, Arkansas. Originally, the two were part of two separate bands, until one day they decided to come together and wrote their first single, ‘Take Me On.’ The rest is history.

Thomas usually takes on lead vocals, but also dabbles as the band’s guitarist and keyboardist. Rutherford is the drummer for the band, and does some background vocals as well. The band’s sound consists of a very nostalgic feel, reminding people of what 80’s music used to sound like.

Although the group just recently formed in 2017, they have been able to make a platform for themselves. In the last three years they have opened for artists such as COIN, The Aces, and flor. They’ve just recently started their first headline tour.
