Late Stage Capitalism Means Doing the Thing Tired

As we get older, we begin to trade the excess energy we had as kids and teenagers for more expendable income and autonomy. Everyone goes through this trade off, but particularly those who have to work to keep a roof over their heads and keep themselves fed. As we make this change, keeping up with a social life and doing things we enjoy becomes harder as we recognize how tired we are, but we have to push through. Especially now that we’re in full-fledged late-stage capitalism, working less isn’t an option but neither is giving up everything we love. We have to do things while tired and find ways to replenish our energy physically and spiritually.

It may seem daunting at first, but as it becomes the new normal it isn’t so bad. It also helps you pare down things you don’t need and prioritize what’s most important to you because you don’t have the time and energy for everything that you once held dear, and that’s okay. Changes like this are a part of life and are a sign that you are alive and growing. So as you start to wake up and realize you might need another 2-3 hours of sleep, keep that in mind when you go to bed at night, and continue to live your life to the fullest, tailoring your experience to what you need and what you want out of life.
