Latin Artist of the Month for April 2025
Luis Miguel Gallego Basteri aka Luis Miguel is a popular Mexican singer-songwriter and producer. Born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Miguel began his music career at the young age of 11 with the release of his first album Un Sol with the help of his father, who was his manager. The single 1+1=Dos Enamorados was the first of his to become a major hit. After releasing two more albums, Miguel switched genres to pop-rock in his fourth album in 1984, Palabra de Honor.
Miguel continued to tour and even starred in two films befire his relationship with his father soured in 1986, this led to him firing him right as he started working with Warner Records a year later. Miguel released his next album, Soy Como Quiero Ser, that same year.
Miguel’s sixth album Busca una Mujer marked his transition into his adult singing career and by 1999 his album 20 Años fully cemented him as a professional adult singer with one of its singles reaching the number 1 spot on Billboard’s Hot Latin Tracks.
