Latin Artist of the Month for August 2025
Alejandro Sánchez Pizarro aka Alejandro Sanz is Spanish musician, singer and composer. Born in Madrid, Spain, Sanchez grew an interest in flamenco as a child, with aspirations to become a flamenco performer when he was older. Shortly after that he began practicing the guitar and training but soon found that flamenco teachers were too strict for his tastes.
Sanchez began his career performing across venues as a teenager, eventually meeting music executive Miguel Ángel Arenas, who helped Sanchez find a record deal with Spanish label Hispavox. Sanchez’s debut album, Los Chulos Son Pa’ Cuidarlos, was released in 1989 to minimal success. This led to Sans taking a break to study business administration before returning under a new name and a new debut album in 1991.
Albums continued to release until is fifth and six, which propelled him to international fame. Sanchez has toured across the world and collaborated with other influential artists inside and outside the Latin music industry, including Shakira, Grupo Frontera, Manuel Turizo, Camila Cabello, Nicky Jam, Alicia Keys, and more.
By 2025, Sanchez released over thirteen albums and has sold over 25 million albums globally.
