Fashion Designer of the Month for January 2024

Bio

Born in 1963 in New York City and raised in Teaneck New Jersey, American fashion designer Marc Jacobs got his start as a design assistant for Perry Ellis. Following his time with Ellis, Jacobs created his fashion label in 1986, which became renowned for its unconventional designs that mixed high and low fashion. Additionally, Jacobs is considered to be one of the most influential and open gay fashion designers in the world.

Jacobs also served as the creative director for Louis Vuitton from 1997 to 2014, designing the brand’s Murakami monogram design that was discontinued in 2015. The fashion designer has collaborated with numerous other brands and celebrities over the years including Kaney West and Miley Cyrus, and even ventured out into other creative areas like acting and even became the creative director for Diet Coke in 2014.
