Meme Propaganda

As the war between the United States and Iseral against Iran continues, there is little sign that the conflict will soon come to an end. Unlike the initial thoughts and comments made by President Trump who previously stated the war will end very soon, we are currently rolling into the third week of the conflict between the U.S. and Isreal against Iran.

Despite already facing major backlash and controversy in the United States involvement within the war, there is yet another rising dispute towards the Trump administration.  In an attempt to promote the ongoing war, the White House is now in hot water for utilizing the use memes to showcase the rising conflict in Iran against the U.S. and Isreal.

Reported by PBS News, the Trump administration has used many different popular memes derived from movies and television that has been circling all over social media platforms.  According to PBS News, journalist Liz Landers stated, “A post titled Justice the American Way that features a montage of movie clips from films like “Iron Man,” “Gladiator,” “Top Gun” and other action movies has been viewed more than 64 million times on X since it was posted two weeks ago.”

To insert my own opinion, I believe many people are disgusted by this action due to the mockery and disrespect in trivializing the ongoing war.  Instead of trying to support the troops who are the ones risking their lives fighting a war they did not initiate, the United States is rather using memes to promote this unnecessary war.  Painting the government as the heroes instead of the men and women who are risking their lives, the memes incorrectly display an incorrect portrayal of the ongoing conflict. And that is just disappointing.
