Recently, Michael Jordan announced that he has donated around $10 million to a North Carolina regional medical center to honor his mother and her dedication to helping others.
Michael Jordan, six-time NBA champion and businessman, donated the $10 million to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. He did so to help his mother with her goals of helping others as the founder and president of the James R. Jordan Foundation.
“My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can’t think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure those in need can obtain the most advanced neurological care available,” Jordan said about his decision to donate.
After receiving the donation, the center announced that it would name its neuroscience institute after Michael Jordan’s mother, Deloris Jordan. A dedication ceremony is reported to be planned to be held early in 2026 at the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center for the honor.
With the donation of $10 million, the Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center will be able to greatly expand its coverage and provide treatment to many more patients. Additionally, the funds will also significantly contribute to the health center’s ability to research and innovate programs related to brain health.
It is always a good thing to see people who have become incredibly wealthy don’t let the wealth cultivate greed in their hearts, and they are still willing to use their assets to help thousands of people who need their help. Michael Jordan has been a basketball icon for millions of people and he is someone that many can respect for his charity.
