Flashback Athlete of the Month for March 2025
Michael Jordon is a world renown American professional basketball player. Born in Brooklyn, New York City, Jordon played a variety of sports in school including basketball, baseball, and football.
After a growth spurt and more training, Jordon earned a seat in his schools varsity basketball roster. By his senior year Jordon was selected for the 1981 McDonald’s All-American Game, where he scored 30 points.
After highschool Jordon accepted a scholarship for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he continued to play and was even selected for the NCAA All-American First Team in his sophomore and junior year. In that same year he won the Naismith and Wooden College Player of the Year award before leaving college early to enter the 1984 NBA draft.
The Chicago Bills selected Jordan, where he played until 1993 before he went on a brief hiatus. Jordon returned to basketball in 1995 and played very well until his second retirement in 1999. Jordon returns again in 2001 to the Washington Wizards for three years before his final retirement in 2003.
Jordan was one of the most notable athletes of his generation with numerous accolades and endorsements. Outside of basketball Jordan was successful in helping the success of Nike’s Air Jordan sneakers and even featured in the classic live-action and animation hybrid movie Space Jam. Currently, he is considered one of the richest celebrities in the world.
