Miley Cyrus released “Midnight Sky” on August 14, 2020.  The single is from her seventh studio album She is Miley Cyrus.  The song was produced by Louis Bell and Andrew Watt and was written by Cyrus, Ali Tamposi, Ilsey Juber, and Jon Bellion.

Accompanying the song was a self-directed music video.  The video features a room with mirrors, a gumball pit, and a neon disco setting.  This imagery goes along with the songs disco, synth-pop, electropop, and pop rock aspects.  This video draws inspiration from Joan Jett, Debbie Harry, and Stevie Nicks.

Cyrus said that the video was originally being created for another song when the “Midnight Sky” song came to her along with the concept for the video itself.
